Project Description The happiness project is a very meaningful project. In the project are essential question is What is the truth of happiness? This project helps us dig deeper into what actually makes us happy. In this project we have read books, experiments, videos, and annotated bibliographies. Why we learned about the truth of happiness is that our teachers are wanting us to think deeper about thing that we never would've thought of , and giving us an understanding on how we can change the worlds perspective on happiness. Throughout this project we have came up with all sorts of ideas from the help of others, lots of ideas were built from others videos and especially the socratic seminar, thats when we really started thinking about the essential question
What have you discovered your truth of happiness is? 1.Everyone knows what happiness is, we think of it as an emotion or easy pleasers, but what we really need to ask ourselves is what actually is the truth of happiness. Hearing this question almost sounded impossible to answer because the truth of happiness could be anything. After hard research and projects I came down to one conclusion of what the truth of happiness is. Its not just an emotion its a intrinsic goal, I feel that happiness is not something we get over easy pleasers its part of being selfless and being happy for doing good not just something about you. On time in my group we talked about intrinsic and extrinsic goals and which one makes you actually happy, after making the video we made a conclusion after hearing other peoples perspective we realized that intrinsic is a part of true happiness. There is more to happiness not just being selfless but I think everybody should realize that we don't have to be selfish to be happy.
What was the greatest challenge you faced in this project and how did you work through it? 2.For the first time making a high quality video in a group I think we did a beautiful job, but almost every time you do a project you will have to face challenges which makes the group stronger so they can overcome it. Some challenges we faced was mostly time managment and technical problems. For example we had to stay after school for a couple hours so we could finish the majority of the video because we spent so much time on our script, if we used time management we would've been ahead and less stressed.
How have you grown as a group worker in this project? 3.Group work has always been not a big deal for me, sometimes I realize how much group work has helped me grow academically and personally. In this project I think I grew a lot in effective communication, its always important to have effective communication in a group so everything can function in a organized manner. I used effective communication when we went out to get footage and when I worked on the video at home I would have to communicate to get footage emailed to me. Growing in this area is improtant because next group work I will communicate to my group most of the work time.
If you could refine any part of this project, thinking back through the entire project, Brave New World through experiments to videos, what would you refine, and how? 4.If I could refine anything in the happiness project I would have to refine my annotations for Brave New World, yes it is one small thing but refinement is important in everything big or small. In my annotations I think I didn't go into depth when annotating if I did I would've got way more out of it. Annotating helps a lot but if I just focused on the main question I would've created beautiful annotations. Next time I will think of the main question and dig into the meaning of the book I'm reading.
